You have one of the best running backs and defenses in the league, only problem is you've got father time playing QB and half your wide receivers are out. On the other hand you've got the "Super Bowl Hangover" I feel like people expect the Saints tonight to come out of that tunnel like the kids from Heavyweights. Have you ever been to New Orleans? They can party 24/7 and not even break a sweat, just like tonight will be against old man Favre.
Saints 35 over Vikings 17
Panthers at Giants
Clearly the less interesting of the two games at the Meadowlands this week. Giants got spanked by the Panthers last time they played them and it continues here, they're just too old, too boring to watch. Having been forced to watch Giants games with my friend I can vouch for how much they frustrate their fans.
Panthers 24 over Giants 21
Atlanta at Pittsburgh
Dennis Dixon? I don't even remember him playing at Oregon and he's only thrown something like 30 passes the past two seasons combined. Plus, being a Maryland guy, I hate the Steelers with a passion and Atlanta's supposed to be pretty good this year. Looks like this is one of those games where you grab a beer and sit back just to watch the team you hate get smacked around.
Atlanta 28 over Pittsburgh 14
Cleveland at Tampa Bay
Dear Cleveland, you're not having a good time in your history right now. The one good thing that ever happened to this city left to join the superpower Miami Heat. Tampa Bay isn't exactly football city either, I don't even know who their starters are, but at least they aren't the Browns, who will only be better than the Bills this year. Can't believe I was almost forced to move to Cleveland a couple years ago. Gross.
Tampa Bay 21 over Cleveland 10
Denver at Jacksonville
Oh the Broncos. Always giving that one friend who is actually a fan of them hope by starting the season strong but then choking the second half of the season only to lose their playoff spot to the ever-persistant Chargers in some ridiculous way, classic. I don't even think it will get that far this year, but they'll at least get this one win under their belts early with the secondary giving David Garrard fits.
Denver 21 over Jacksonville 14
Indianapolis at Houston
Now this is a matchup. Houston coming off their first winning season ever and the Colts not making as much noise as they normally do this time of year. But Peyton Manning is Peyton Manning and I just cannot get against him, though Andre Johnson has a huge day, I'll probably face him in fantasy football, I feel like I do every week.
Indy 28 over Houston 21
Miami at Buffalo
Miami brings back the wildcat but now have a recognizable receiver out their to haul in some passes. Buffalo is just awful, though I'm excited to see CJ Spiller run. Miami runs all over the Bills defense but the crafty secondary takes a few out of the air to keep things close.
Miami 21 over Buffalo 10
Detroit at Chicago
I don't even want to think about this game. Lions haven't been good in forever and Chicago is just a team filled with let downs like Hester and Forte. An ugly, sloppy game with Chicago pulling it out at the end.
Chicago 17 over Detroit 14
Oakland at Tennessee
Everyone had been so excited about the Raiders "improving" by getting rid of the worst QB ever Jemarcus Russel and replacing him with ex-redskin Jason Campbell. Did anyone watch Campbell in Washington? There's a couple reasons why I've been gloating as a fan of the good team in my state the past few years and why the skins went out and got McNabb, Campbell clearly isn't that great. Oh, and Chris Johnson.
Tennessee 28 over Oakland 10
Cincinnati at New England
How do people still like the Pats? They're one of the most boring teams to watch now that they aren't throwing it up every play and their defense has gotten older. Plus, I see the Tom Brady car crash today as a sign from God that he'll probably get hurt soon, killing the Patriots chances. Still, the Bengals D is just a bunch of thugs, and not the good thugs like the Raven's D back in the day, the bad ones. And their offense is as good as a sitcom with T.O. and Ochocinco. High-powered, fun game to watch.
Bengals 42 over Patriots 38
Arizona at St. Louis
I miss the days when St. Louis was good at football... Wanted a Marshall Faulk jersey for Christmas but never got it, probably a good thing considering how absolutely dreadful the Rams are now. The Cards won't be that good either now that teams can focus more on Fitz and Warner isn't back there to sling it to him and any other team would be able to capitalize on that, but not the Rams... Poor Rams...
Arizona 24 over Rams 14
San Francisco at Seattle
Just more football from the worst division in the world, like European teams could beat up on this division. Seattle could be interesting this year if they can put something together and San Fran has a chance to do something, I'm just so bored and frustrated with division that I really don't care that much.
San Francisco 17 over Seattle 14
Green Bay at Philadelphia
Philly without McNabb and Westbrook, sounds like a formula for success, but not really. DeSean Jackson is the only reason this team might stand a chance but with Kolb throwing to him the ball might not even get there. Also, this is the year everyone is saying Aaron Rogers takes the next step into being an elite QB and the Green Bay defense is just scary.
Green Bay 28 over Philadelphia 21
Dallas at Washington
Even Donovan McNabb can't make the 'Deadskins' a contender. Dallas walks all over them and the Redskins fans who just emerged from their long hiding crawl back into their holes.
Dallas 35 over Washington 14
Baltimore at New York Jets
This is the game to watch as it will probably be a preview to the AFC Championship. The Ravens add to their already powerful offense (I cannot explain to you how weird it is, as a long time Ravens fan, to be writing about their offense) Anquan Boldin T.J. Whosyourdaddy. People are always giving me shit like bla bla Boldin wasn't that good bla bla T.J. is old bla, so who do you think gets the one way trip to Revis Island? Whoever Rex decides to take away Flacco will just be able to find another elite receiver. The Jets defense is phenomenal, I'll admit, I love the blitz and this is one of the rare times the Ravens are the worse defense in the matchup. I just don't trust Sanchez and you CANNOT run against the Ravens, Ngata will literally eat you.
Ravens 31 over Jets 28
San Diego at Kansas City
The Chargers minus LT and Vincent Jackson? Still a hell of a lot better than those Chiefs. Darren Sproles is just too quick and Rivers will find Gates early and often. Chiefs lose this game, and probably all but one or two of the rest of their season. Sorry guys.
San Diego 28 over Kansas City 10
